Erotikos Film Festival Highlights at the Museum

Last weekend saw the induction to the Museum of the winners of the Erotikos Film Festival, recently held at Hedonism in Jamaica. What a fabulous evening! It was the first time Zalman King's movie "Pleasure or Pain" was shown in a public venue. Famous for other greats like "9 1/2 weeks" and "Red Shoe Diaries" Zalman's final masterpiece was submitted to the Film Festival just before he died in February this year. Amazing! Beautiful cinematography. Great acting. Thought provoking story line. Highly recommended! On the subject of erotic fantasies it certainly captured the essence of the age old question... is it better to keep our fantasies just that - fantasies, or should we enact them and make them reality? Winner of Best Feature and People's Choice Awards.

M. Hawks' "Beyond Dinner", featuring the work of Tantrica Laurie Handlers, won best short film and it was great having her, the Director of the short film, one of the actors and a participant attend as well. Some of them had not seen the finished version. The discussion afterwards was great.

The winner of the best musical was "Manual for Bored Girls" from Spanish Director Jesus Plaza which was quite controversial in it's depiction of what young ladies get up to when they get bored!!!

The winner of best Documentary "A Guide to your Orgasm" by Sheri Testerman was also shown.

We had DJ Chillachilles spinning great sounds, and of course our fabulous staff from the Museum on hand to answer any questions (Dorian, Dr. Amanda, Mercedes, Jane and Shelley).

Thanks to Nancy and her hubby for making this happen! Great event!

Dorian Gomez (resident curator of the Museum and guest judge in Jamaica for the Festival, Nancy receiving the Certificate of Induction from the Museum, Dr. Amanda Morgan and film maker Michael Hawks
